Employers who do not pay contributions are usually prosecuted

With reference to a letter in Stabroek News dated February 22, 2010 under the caption ‘NIS cannot find contributions,’ please be guided by the following response:-

1. The writer can call or visit the Publicity and Public Relations Unit in order for us to follow up his matter.

2. Employers who do not pay contributions are usually prosecuted for not doing so.

3. NIS is again advising insured persons to check each year at the nearest local office to ensure that their contributions have been remitted.

Yours faithfully,
Dianne Lewis Baxter
