Dear Editor,
When the USA and the EU were working to get the UN to impose sanctions against Iran I was unsure how the Russians would vote due to their new found friendship with the West and their ‘hold me, loose me’ behaviour. I was however 100% certain China would have voted against the sanctions. I felt that was because China itself was bullied by the US and other Western countries (not Canada) and kept out of the UN for decades. As such the Chinese would not support sanctions designed to cripple Iran and make Iran vulnerable to an Israeli attack.
You can imagine my shock when I learned the Chinese also play up to America.
I do hope the sanctions would not prevent the Iranians going on with their mission here to map our mineral resources.
