T&T lawyers whip Bajans, Guyanese

(Trinidad Express) The Trinidad and Tobago Lawyers cricket team warmed up for the Third Lawyers’ World Cup tournament with two easy victories against Barbados Lawyers and Guyana Lawyers in Barbados over the Easter weekend.

On the Saturday, T&T defeated Guyana by 145 runs and on Easter Monday, they overcame hosts Barbados by 29 runs to build momentum ahead of the World Cup which takes place in Barbados from August 7-21.

On Saturday, T&T won the toss and made 275 for five off 29 overs, with Krishna Jaglal hitting an undefeated 84. He received good support from Shashi Seecharan (74) and Nigel Patrick (49) before Guyana were dismissed for 130

T&T had a tougher time against their Barbados counterparts on Easter Monday as they were restricted to 164 for six off 31 overs at Spartan Cricket Club Ground. Jaglal again top-scored for T&T, hitting 44.

In reply, Barbados were cruising at 97 for one before Francis Joseph (two for 21) and Fareed Ali (two for 14) turned the match in T&T’s favour. T&T skipper Roger Kawalsingh then wrapped up the Bajan tail, taking four for 23 off five overs as the hosts were dismissed for 135 off 27.2 overs.

It was the first time that the T&T team won in Barbados and for their effort, they took home the Tile Cup.
