Fireman shot dead in Christmas Eve robbery

A fireman was fatally shot during a robbery at his Alness, Corentyne home last night.

Delon Collins, 29, was shot to his chest after he and his wife and their three children were confronted at their home by four men.

Police said the robbery occurred at  about 11:15pm on Saturday.

Collins and his wife, Probation and Welfare Officer Nadine Crawford, 32 and their children had just returned to their home at when they were attacked by the armed men.

 

“The men took away jewellery and $62,000.00 during which Delon Collins was shot to his chest after which the perpetrators escaped,” police said.

 

Collins was pronounced dead on arrival at the Port Mourant Hospital.
