The bond on Anira Street is the source of the ‘bush-truck’ problem

Dear Editor,

I would like to thank the Mayor for responding to my letter, reference the illegal bush truck business in Anira Street. I am happy to see that some action was taken by Mr Green, as I know that he personally paid a visit to the area some time ago and gave instructions for it to be cleared.

However, it is my opinion that the crux of the matter is the so-called bond or storage facility from where the trucks are loaded with every type of consumer item for delivery to the interior.

Among my many letters over the years was one to the Public Health Department reference the condition of this facility, and I am sure if there was a visit paid they would have no option but to close it down as unfit for human habitation. Needless to say, I never received an acknowledgement of my letter and the business continues.

I am convinced if the facility is closed, the trucks will have to relocate and some semblance of order and cleanliness will return to our street.

Yours faithfully,
L Narain
