Franklin represents the Guyana Action Party

Dear Editor,

I wish to clarify a detail in the letter, ‘Franklin not in a position to make allegations against Ramsaroop’ by Dr Cheddi Jagan (Jr) (SN, April 16).  In his involvement with the Joint Opposition Political Parties (JOPP), Mr Everall Franklin is representing the Guyana Action Party (GAP), and from what I have read in the press, he has always made this quite clear.

Because GAP and ROAR entered the 2006 elections as a coalition, he has been the GAP-ROAR MP. However, since ROAR as an entity folded up its tent after the elections, Mr Franklin has in effect represented GAP during his tenure in Parliament. As a matter of fact, there has been no communication between Mr Franklin and myself, during that time.

For what it is worth, I think Mr Franklin performed quite credibly in his remit and I wish him well in his efforts with JOPP.

Yours faithfully,
Ravi Dev
