Morton stars with hundred for QPCC

PORT OF SPAIN, Trinidad, CMC – Runako Morton continued to put his legal troubles behind him, scoring his second straight hundred for Queen’s Park Cricket Club in the Trinidad & Tobago Cricket Board Premier Division championship on Saturday.

The T&T batsman blasted 193 to help put the league leaders in a commanding position on the opening day of their seventh round match against Clarke Road at Wilson Road Recreation Ground.

Morton, who scored 131 against Wanderers in the sixth round two weeks ago, anchored QPCC to 350 for six declared.

National Under-19 batsman Marlon Barclay scored 58 and Barbadian all-rounder Dwayne Smith made 42.

Former T&T off-spinner Mukesh Persad was the most successful Clarke Road bowler with two for 109.

Elsewhere, Guyana off-spin all-rounder Stephen Jacobs supported with three for 47 to help Trinidad & Tobago Electricity Corporation bowl Central Sports out for 146 in their first innings at Point Lisas.

St. Lucia and Windward Islands left-arm spinner Garey Mathurin hit back for Central with three 36, as T&TEC reached 142 for three at the close.

In another match, Barbadian all-rounder Javon Searles hit the top score of 56 and T&T all-rounder Imran Khan made 46, but national batsman Aneil Khan collected six for 61 bowling his part-time off-spin, as Comets were dismissed for 199 in their first innings against Merryboys at Pierre Road.

Former T&T West Indies batsman Lincoln Roberts made 37 and Barbadian Alcindo Holder stroked 33 to help Merryboys reach 165 for five at stumps.
