Bolt, Blake, Weir secure spots in 200m final

(Jamaica Gleaner) Sprint sensation Usain Bolt and his Jamaican teammates Yohan Blake and Warren Weir have qualified for the men’s 200-metre final at the London 2012 Olympics.

Olympic champion Bolt cruised to a 20.18 clocking to win Heat 2 of the semi-finals.

Blake clocked 20.01, the fastest of the qualifiers, to win Heat 1 of the semi-finals ahead of American Wallace Spearmon, who ran 20.02.

And Jamaica’s latest sprint sensation Warren Weir advanced after finishing second in the last semi-finals.

Weir clocked 20.28 to finish behind Churandy Martina of The Netherlands, who won in 20.17.

The final will take place tomorrow at 2:55 tomorrow afternoon.
