In Guyana,  Cooperatives have survived the passage of time and the emergence of a full-blown economic culture that gave the lie to the professed beliefs of both the People’s National Congress and the ruling People’s Progressive Party in a state-driven economy.

The PNC has been out of power for twenty years and the PPP has held the reins of political office for the same period.
