The Essequibo Cricket Board (ECB) has written Minister of Culture, Youth and Sport, Dr Frank Anthony, stating that they will be following the directive of the West Indies Cricket Board as it relates to the governments installation of an Interim management Committee.
This decision came following the staging of a special meeting of the executive of the ECB recently.
“The Essequibo Cricket Board at its special executive meeting on December 28th, 2011 has unanimously decided that it would follow the direction of the WICB/ICC in relation to the cricketing status of Guyana,” the letter to Dr. Anthony stated.
“As soon as the WICB/ICC clarifies its position on Guyana, the Board will make a pronouncement on the issue. This decision is based on the premise of the future of Guyana’s cricketers. We are of the firm view that our cricketers must come first,” the ECB declared.
