Linden talks resume today

Talks between the Region Ten delegation and the government are to resume today at the Office of the President (OP) at 5 pm, Regional Chairman Sharma Solomon says.

Government had last Friday cancelled a scheduled meeting following an early morning confrontation between Linden protestors and the Joint Services. No reason was ever given for that cancellation.

The two sides had been meeting regularly since the July 18 shooting by police which left three dead and at least 20 injured to sort out a number of issues. These include the increase in electricity tariffs in the mining town which took effect on July 1 and a commission of inquiry into the July 18 killings.
