Duo jointly charged with larceny of hydraulic jack and phone

A jointly charged duo arraigned on a simple larceny charge was yesterday placed on $50,000 bail each when they appeared before Magistrate Hazel Octive-Hamilton in the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court.

Paul Waterman, 40, of 877 Bell West, No.2 Canal, West Bank Demerara and Albert De Freitas, 49, of 100 Leopold Street, Werk-en-Rust, both denied the allegation against them which stated that on August 21 at Regent Street they stole one hydraulic jack and a phone, totalling $31,000 in value, property of Romel Hamilton.

No facts of what transpired on the day in question were related to the court.

Waterman, a mechanic and father of two, and De Freitas, a father of five, were both represented by attorney Satyesh Kissoon, who requested reasonable bail on behalf of his clients.

The prosecution made no objection.

After hearing the case, the magistrate granted the duo $50,000 bail each.

They are scheduled to return to Court One of the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court on October 1 for report and fixture.
