Motorists can now pay for renewal of vehicle licences at three banks

The Guyana Revenue Authority  (GRA) says that motor vehicle owners can now pay for the renewal of their vehicle licences at Demerara Bank Ltd, the Guyana Bank for Trade and Industry and Bank of Baroda (Guyana) Inc.

In a notice to appear in Stabroek News on November 23, the GRA said that motor vehicle owners are required to tear off the motor vehicle licence renewal quotation from the notice for renewal of motor vehicle licence which is sent via post by the GRA and to present the quotation  to the relevant bank  with payment.

This new procedure will help speed the process for vehicle owners who have complained in the past about long lines when making payments.

The GRA notice said that only motor vehicle owners in receipt of a quotation from the GRA will be able to make payments at the participating banks.

The GRA said that if motorists are not in receipt of a notification with the new date for renewal ( the anniversary date of the first registration) they should check with the Licence Revenue Office for further information and assistance.

In another notice that will appear in tomorrow’s edition of Stabroek News, the GRA will also announce that the sale of motor vehicle licences is now being done at its new Camp Street location (between Quamina and Middle streets). This took effect from Monday, November 19.

The sale at Camp Street will be in addition to the service currently offered at the Licence Revenue Office, Smyth Street, Georgetown. This will also be a significant improvement in customer service as members of the public have complained for a number of years about long lines at the Smyth Street office.
