Altercation at mall ends in shooting of man

A man was yesterday shot to his left arm during an altercation at the Price Rite Mall located at the intersection of Joseph Pollydore Street and Vlissengen Road and his assailant evaded police and remains in hiding after a chase.

An eyewitness told Stabroek News that the man was imbibing at the mini mart when he and another man had an argument. A fight began during which the man was dealt several blows in his head with the gun his assailant was carrying and was subsequently shot in his right arm. “I went in the shop and hear the two a dem rowing and carrying on bad then one fight bruk out and de man wuh de drinking here get a burst head and then bam one shot”, the  eyewitness said.

The injured man was rushed to the Georgetown Public Hospital but took his own discharge and instead sought care at a private city hospital.

The police were called to the area when the fight was occurring and arrived as the shooter was leaving in a car. They gave chase but it was unsuccessful since the car sped away.
