Daughter of US House Speaker to marry Jamaican charged over ganja

(Jamaica Gleaner) The daughter of United States (US) House Speaker, John Boehner, is to marry a Jamaican man.

Media reports in the US say Lindsay Boehner is engaged to Rastafarian Dominic Lakhan, a Jamaican who lives in the state of Florida.

An online wedding registry with the names Lindsay Boehner and Dominic Lakhan lists the date as May 10, in Delray Beach, Florida.

But the reports say the planned nuptial is raising eyebrows after it was discovered that the 38-year-old Jamaican was arrested for marijuana possession in 2006.

A copy of the police incident report has been posted online.

Boehner is staunchly opposed to the use of marijuana, even for medicinal purposes.
