Linden man injured in knife attack by partner

A Linden man was seriously wounded yesterday after he was repeatedly stabbed by the mother of his children, following several hours of quarrelling.

Up to late last evening, the Canvas City resident, identified as Quincy Winfield, remained a patient of the Intensive Care Unit of the Linden Hospital complex. The woman was in police custody assisting with investigations.

Stabroek News was told that following the attack, the man’s intestines were protruding, having been stabbed several times to the abdomen. He had to be rushed to the hospital in an ambulance.

Residents told Stabroek News that the incident occurred some time before 8 am. The woman resided at the property with her children and the man would usually visit.

One resident recalled that the couple began arguing sometime around 2 am.  The resident claimed that the woman was in an abusive relationship and was constantly beaten by the man.

According to the resident, the couple did not live together but were in a visiting relationship. The resident said that anywhere the man saw the woman he would beat her. “He does want to go in the house …an wan choke she and do she all kinsa thing,” the resident said adding that the fight between the couple started during Thursday.
