Registered letters were delivered as addressed

Dear Editor,

Thank you for the opportunity to respond to the letter captioned, ‘No answer from the Guyana Post Office,’ as carried in your letter column on Tuesday, November 12, 2013.

Firstly, the Guyana Post Office Corporation (GPOC) wishes to advise that all of the registered letters, referred to by the writer, were delivered as addressed.

The addressees may contact the Postmaster General at any time to verify or clarify the delivery particulars as the need may be.

We further wish to advise that the Taiwan Post’s requests for delivery information (which was received by hard copy) were responded to by way of registered letters. Those letters were sent to Taiwan Post on September 9, 2013 and October 25, 2013, respectively.

It is to be noted that GPOC has been using the Universal Postal Union (UPU) provided IPS Light software to track registered items since 2005. A membership fee is paid each year to the UPU for the use of this software.

The GPOC would like to state that notwithstanding its challenges, the Corporation remains committed to ensure that the public receives an efficient service at the least inconvenience.

Yours faithfully,

Henry Dundas
