This newspaper was also informed that the Striking Dolls of Bartica have merged with Water Lily, another female club in the mining town. The merger we were told was necessary since the membership of both clubs was dwindling.

On the issue of Bartica, Stabroek Sports spoke to two former national players as well as administrators of women’s football in the mining town, Carmelita Thomas and Samantha Beaton. Both women said that female football in the mining town has been dormant for close to a year and a half.  After a visit from the Dickenson, a club was registered with a and assistance promised to work with the club in fostering development of the sport in the mining town.

Stabroek Sport yesterday contacted Dickenson to enquire whether she would be contesting the post of president but was told to call at a later time as she was heading into a meeting. A subsequent call was made at the agreed time and this newspaper learnt that Dickenson was still at a meeting and would not be able to take the call.
