Enmore woman found dead

– reputed husband held

The body of a 58-year-old woman of Enmore North was discovered yesterday morning on the floor of her one-bedroom home and her reputed husband has been taken into custody.

According to reports, the body of Keila Persaud of 29 Enmore North, East Coast Demerara was found by her common-law husband, 64-year-old Cheela (only name given) shortly after 11 am yesterday.

According to reports the two had been living together for the past two years.

This newspaper understands that Cheela has insisted that he had nothing to do with his wife’s death.

Relatives of the woman said that there were black and blue marks on her face, which they believed was an indication of foul play.

Cheela has since been taken into police custody and is assisting with investigations.

Persaud leaves to mourn five children.
