Dear Editor,
Let me see if I get this straight. First, there was an announcement that the president has an announcement planned. Then, His Excellency himself stepped forward to announce of a pending announcement sometime later. What follows at the time of the pending announcement? It is quite likely another announcement that elections will be held contingent upon the announcement of fulfillment of such and such conditions. Oh well….
This might pass for political acumen in ruling circles; I see it as the height of asininity. It might be about saving Christmas and helping the private sector and playing games. Whatever this is all about; it is of an unparalleled scorn for the Guyanese public, and an indication of the level to which political process in this country is now reduced.
