‘Wombmyn’s’ circle offers space for creativity all this month

Beginning tomorrow and continuing every Sunday for the month of March, artist and designer Tracy Douglas will create a wombmyn’s (women’s) circle at Pan-dama Retreat, on the Soesdyke/Linden High-way.

The last Sunday, March 30, Tracy will host a Goddess Camp in honour of March being women’s month.

Tracy, who is co-owner of Pandama Retreat, Winery and Center for the Creative Arts,

says the intent is to offer “my feminine community, a safe space to create the life they really want. This will be done through writing, painting, dancing, chanting, drumming, bush tea time, sacred soups and meditating.”

Tracy makes it clear that there will be no time for gossiping and nothing with a battery will be allowed. She notes that there are women the world over who would love to have the freedom to be part of this kind of opportunity, but in some cases they would simply lose their lives.

“We all deserve these types of activities, so instead of feeling bad about the state of the world, do something about it by first changing yourself,” she says. “[And] if you are in a wonderful state of being [then] come share your grace with us… We have the opportunity to choose amazing all the time… so why not? Let us create precious memories and share a smile not a criticism.’

In addition, Tracy says, “if you have a wombmyn’s group and would like to have these types of activities where you are let me know, the possibilities are endless. Guyana is the land of gold and diamonds, metaphysically to me this means abundance… How can anyone be sad living in such a place?”

She explains her choice of spelling women. “Wombmyn, I have used this spelling simply because I can. Since my ‘hersterectomy’ three years ago I have decided to eliminate situations that didn’t make sense and cultivate the things, relationships, and activities that do. So it makes sense to me to spell woman acknowledging one of the things that we are gifted with, a womb.”

Exhorting women to make time for themselves, she reasons, “There is no such thing as arriving at this place of contentment, story done. Your whole life will be full of creating opportunities and events to bring you happiness.

“When is the last time you realized how amazing you are?” she asks. “Instead we spend enormous amounts of time gossiping about someone else’s life, or being offended by everything else. Who cares and if you do why and where is it getting you? How is this activity feeding your soul, your spirit, [or] your children?”

Tracy says being in Guyana has been life changing for her. It’s an experience she wishes others might have.
