LIAT to cut 180 jobs

(Barbados Nation) One hundred and eighty employees will be sent home this year from regional airline LIAT.
The announcement came after LIAT shareholders and at least three prime ministers of major shareholder governments met yesterday in a closed door meeting for more than three hours at Hilton Barbados Resort at Needham’s Point, St Michael.
Barbados Prime Minister Freundel Stuart and his counterpart from St Vincent and the Grenadines, Dr Ralph Gonsalves, along with Dominica’s Roosevelt Skerrit as well as Antigua and Barbuda’s Minister of Civil Aviation Robin Yearwood participated in the meeting which was also attended by LIAT chairman Jean Holder and chief executive officer David Evans.
