Vice Chancellor of the University of Guyana (UG) Jacob Opadeyi is hospitalized at the Caribbean Heart Institute.
Opadeyi, who had been scheduled to address a meeting with students at UG’s Turkeyen Campus this morning on the industrial relations climate at UG, was represented instead by Deputy Vice Chancellor Elizabeth Ramlall.
Enquiring students were told by Ramlall that Opadeyi had been admitted to hospital and later that he was at the Caribbean Heart Institute. Ramlall read Opadeyi’s speech.
The Vice Chancellor had called a meeting with the students following a week-long sit-in by lecturers over demands for wage increases and improved working conditions.
