Giftland to be exclusive Levi’s and Dockers retailer

Giftland signed a deal yesterday to house their first “stand alone concept store” in the Caribbean for internationally-known brands Levi’s and Dockers.

The store will be one of those housed in the new multi-million dollar Giftland Mall at Turkeyen, East Coast Demerara.

Levi Strauss & Co representative Crystal Ramdeo told members of the media at the signing yesterday that “Levi’s has done their research and has expressed confidence in the success of this venture… so, we’re very proud to be a part of that.”

Ramdeo noted that due to Giftland’s commitment to providing better quality and more options, Guyana will be able to enjoy a premier brand as Giftland is to be their exclusive retailer.

This is the latest in a series of concessions which have been granted to the Giftland Mall. Other companies which have committed to being housed in the mall include the Camex Group, consisting of Church’s, Mario’s, Quiznos and Dairy Queen; Caribbean Cinemas; Popeyes; Multibrand Sport Stores and Topaz jewellers, which signed with the company recently.

Admitting that security is an important concern for such a project, Giftland President Roy Beepat said that security is to be provided by ‘Amalgamated Securities’, a high level specialized firm operating in the Caribbean and whose General Manager Wayne Clarke was present yesterday.

Addressing the other services which will be available, Beepat spoke of the world class bus terminal that is being constructed at the mall.

He said there will be washroom facilities, lockers, sitting areas and other facilities as found in western countries. “In other words a civilized bus terminal where people will be able to come and change and use the bus terminal to go from one point to the other and we anticipate that buses will be coming from Lethem and Linden, from Rosignol and Parika,” he said.

Another major attraction that the Chairman spoke about are four 20-foot aquariums which will separately house saltwater and freshwater fish. He spoke of the fish, similar to those featured in the animated movie ‘Finding Nemo,’ which he was able to secure last week in Miami.

Also included are parking facilities, which will accommodate 500 customers, 150 staffers as well as additional parking for delivery vehicles.
