Duo stole over $31M in electronics from Digicel

Two men were yesterday charged with stealing over $31 million in electronics belonging to Digicel Guyana Incorporated.

20160629digicelAlbert De Freitas, 27, and Basdeo Sackoon, 26, appeared before city magistrate Dylon Bess charged with stealing a total of $31,107,510 in items from the telecoms company.

The charge read stated that the two men, along with others, on May 4, 2016, at Vlissengen Road, stole a Dell M6800 laptop equipped with TEMS, Xeus, MapInfo, Adobe Photoshop and Nemo software, 2 Samsung Galaxy Note 2 devices, two Samsung Galaxy Note 4 devices,  a Samsung S4 equipped with Nemo software, 2 Samsung Galaxy Core devices,  a wireless card, a Samsung Galaxy S3, an iPhone 3G, two hard drives, 15 flash drives, a PTT presenter, a wireless mouse, three phone chargers, hard drive cables, memory cards, a blackberry Z10, a Nokia Lumina 1320, an Azumi Mobile, an Azumi Mobile 2 and a Blu Play 2 cellular phone.

Both De Freitas and Sackoon pleaded not guilty to the charges.

Magistrate Bess granted each defendant $450,000 bail and adjourned the matter to July 19.
