President Chavez may make mistakes but he is a popular hero

Dear Editor,

I refer to your analytical editorial of Friday the 19th January captioned “Beating the alarum” about President Chavez in Venezuela.

As you are aware the US currency states ‘In God We Trust’ and as you are probably aware the God the American leaders trust is the dollar. To keep the dollar powerful the Americans plundered the resources of the countries in Central and South America. Leaders that did not behave the way the US leaders wanted them to behave were removed by the CIA and replaced by puppets.

Not only was this so in the Americas but also in the oil producing states in the Arab and Muslim world. For example, the Shah of Iran was so controlled by the US that he did nothing without consulting the American Ambassador.

So even though Hugo Chavez and the President of Iran may be doing things that appear unwholesome these men are loved and admired for their anti-American position.

In the case of Saddam Hussein who himself was at one stage an American stooge who turned away from America, the Americans invented a situation to invade Iraq and saw to it that Saddam was hanged while Pinochet on the other hand escaped trial because of behind the scene activities. Then just when one thought the world was waking up to realise that bullyism can no longer work, the American people voted in George W Bush.

Yes, dear editor, Hugo Chavez might be doing some things that are wrong but he is loved from India to Iran. The Americans made Chavez and he is saying the things the people long suppressed by US puppets love.

Yours faithfully,

W.P. George
