The USA must vote for builders not wreckers

Dear Editor,

Watching the CBS news recently and seeing how Toyota is out-selling American cars and how Japanese vehicles and other domestic machines are more in demand I have come to realize that in 1945 when the USA bombed Japan with weapons of mass destruction Japan lost the military war. However fifty years after Japan is winning the economic war. While the USA continues to kill Iraqis, Somalis, Pakistanis with its bombs Japan is providing the world with technology to make life better and the world a more liveable place

If only the American people will look back in history and see how much they gave to the world earlier they will vote for builders to lead them. As one American president – Woodrow Wilson I think – said ‘it is better to be a builder than a wrecker!”

I do not like Hugo Chavez’s outbursts, speaking in a derogatory fashion of other world leaders, but just as the British saw Sir Winston as the new Lord Nelson, I see Chavez as the new Simon Bolivar. And of course George Bush Jr. by default has made Chavez what he is.

Yours faithfully,

W.P. George
