Driving towards completion

guild.jpgThe Theatre Guild project is in its final stages and the Trustees have expressed the hope that it can be completed by the end of April. Chairman of the Board of Trustees, David de Caires, has indicated that fund raising is continuing and a further $6.7 million has to be raised.
Below Mr Sattaur Gafoor, Chief Executive Officer of Gafsons Industries Limited, hands over a cheque on Friday last for $500,000 to Hans Barrow, one of the Trustees. Mr Gafoor and his son Omar had previously contributed $250,000 each. Cheques for $500,000 have also been received from Mr Glen Khan, the Chairman of the Laparkan Group of Companies and Mr Harry Rambarran, the Chairman of Shoeworld Guyana Limited.
De Caires said the lighting equipment has been paid for and is currently being manufactured, it is hoped it will be shipped from Miami by April 9 or 10. In the meantime, the necessary wiring is being installed at the playhouse. Work has also started on the fence and the driveway.
