Seven-year-old heart patient a step closer to normal life

A seven-year-old heart patient of Betsy Ground, East Canje is another step closer to realizing her dream of living a normal life after the Aditya Kids Trust Fund Foundation (AKTFF) presented her with $100,000 towards her surgery in India.
The child, Farziena Ali, accompanied by her grandmother, Nirmala Rajbali, received the donation recently. She leaves for India shortly along with 12 other children from across the country after receiving donations from other charitable groups.

The Aditya Foundation was formed in honour of a child, Aditya of Bath, West Berbice who had undergone a similar operation, which was unsuccessful in India last year. According to a member, the foundation is sponsored by Guyanese Premchand Punwasi, Tameshwar Harripersaud, Iqbal Rahaman, and Tully Ghanny who are its directors, in collaboration with Incarchie Mohan of Number Two Village.
The member said that a few sponsors are also based in Toronto while other fund-raising ventures, including several cricket matches, had been undertaken in West Berbice.

He also said the foundation was currently seeking to donate a wheelchair to a resident of Bath Settlement who was unable to walk.
