Fruta Conquerors fell to a defeat at the hands of the defending champions (Beacon) by way of a penalty shootout after the teams were deadlocked at two goals each at regulation time.

Beacon conceded the first goal of the final by way of a penalty after defender Charlon Gasper was blown for handling the ball during a goal mouth scrimmage.

Pernell Schultz who turned in a Most Valuable Player (MVP) performance was the player who took the penalty shot for Conquerors and brought success for them in the 19th minute.

Keson Gay found the equalizer for Beacon United not long after when he got one past custodian Junior Edwards in the 27th minute to conclude the first half at 1-1.

When play resumed Beacon wasted no time in getting ahead –  this time it was Deon Alfred who was not denied by Edwards in the 38th minute.

Schultz in the 55th blasted one past Devon Charles who had no chance of rejecting the attempt which allowed the equalizer and created an uproar from beyond the arena lines.

The penalty shootout was won by Beacon, compliments of Devon Charles who was named ‘Best Goal Keeper” of the tournament. He produced three spectacular saves for his team as Beacon won the penalty shootout 3 – 1 to remain the Chubby under-14 champions and make it consecutive title wins.

Chubby 2007 runners-up Thomas United secured the third place position this year when they defeated the Georgetown Football Club (GFC) 2-0 in the encounter before the final yesterday.

Teams played to a goalless first half but when play resumed Romario Andrews and Devon Harvey bumped Thomas United ahead when they scored in the 34th and 50th minute respectively.

Schultz was awarded with the MVP and Highest Goal Scorer trophies, he scored  a total of six goals from the six matches he played while First Assembly Football Club was named as the ‘Most Disciplined Team’ of the tournament.
