Guinness Greatest of de Street

All matches in the preliminary round of the Georgetown Football Association (GFA) organized Guinness Greatest of De Street football tournament were concluded at the East Ruimveldt Basketball Court on Tuesday evening.

Of the eight scheduled matches for the night, seven were completed with a winner with one via a walkover, whilst the other was drawn. Charlotte Street gained a walkover from Bent Street who failed to show up at their scheduled game time.

Albouystown recorded the largest victory of the night, with three accumulated goals against their opponents Broad Street ‘A’ who could not find the net.

The experienced Andrew Murray Jnr. started his team off on the right foot, with a goal as early as the fifth minute and received support from Delon Small and Devon Booker who scored in the seventh and eighth minutes respectively for Albouystown.

Norton Street’s George Softleigh’s seventh minute goal could not match West Back Roads Eusi Phillips’ and Jermaine Thom’s fourth and 10th minute strikes that secued a victory for their team.

Albert Street, Alberttown pulled off a come-from-behind victory against Meadow Brook Square who had pushed ahead in the fifth minute, compliments of a Julian Harry strike. Elliot Bourne and Maxwell Dyer scored in the eighth and ninth minutes respectively to seal the deal for Alberttown.

East La Penitence and Back Circle recorded one – nil victories over Queens Street, Tiger Bay and Tucville Big Yard respectively, with Trevor Griffith (9th) and Allan Kennedy (7th) being the successful goal scorers for their teams.

Kitty and North Last Entrance battled to a 1 – 2 final result with Wendell St. Hill scoring for Kitty in the 13th minute after NLE’s Lindel Simons recorded a double in the 7th and 11th minutes.

In the final match of the night Plaisance and East Front Road drew 1 – 1 with Kevin Richards scoring in the fifth minute for Plaisance after Andy Duke had sent East Front Road into the lead in the third minute.
