Rest XI take first innings points

The Rest XI team stormed to first innings points and at stumps on Day Three of the Guyana Cricket Board Inter-County match against Demerara at the Police Sports Club ground, Eve Leary, held a commanding 347-run lead going into final day today.

Demerara yesterday resumed on their overnight 312-8 and added 42 runs before the Rest Team wrapped up the innings.

Demerara were dismissed for 354 in the 96th over giving their opponents a useful 90-run lead which the Rest Team, aided by Vishal `Cheesy’ Singh’s unbeaten innings of 97, had increased by 257 runs.

At the close the Rest XI was 257-4 from 76 overs.
Dion Ferrier is the other not out batsman.

Singh batted for four-and-a-half hours and laced his score with four fours and a six while Ferrier in his short stay at the crease struck some explosive shots as he raced to 67 with four fours and two sixes.

At the start of the Rest XI’s second innings, they lost Trevon Griffith (4) to Christopher Barnwell with the score on 13, but Ryan Ramdass, who made  53, and Singh put on a 116-run second-wicket partnership.

Ramdass faced 94 balls and hit four fours before being trapped in front of his stumps by Zaheer Mohammed.
Wasim Haslim (14) looked good at the start of his innings but was comprehensively bowled by Troy Gonsalves sweeping while first innings century maker and skipper Derwin Christian was unlucky to get a leading edge that went up into the air and was taken comfortably by Shemroy Barrington at short leg off Mohammed.

Mohammed finished with 2 – 47 from 17 overs while Barnwell and Gonsalves claimed one wicket each for 27 and 58 runs respectively.
Earlier Demerara resumed their first innings with Mohammed and Joseph Perry at the wicket.
Mohammed, 22 not out added 17 more runs before he was dismissed by Keiron Fraser who also dismissed Leon Scott for 14.
Joseph Perry was left unbeaten on 26.

Steven Latcha, 5 – 98, Sauid Drepaul, 2 – 72, Seon Daniels 1 – 41 and Fraser 2 – 61 were the wicket-takers.
