The Head of State said Guyana is committed to working with the new administration to build on the programme of cooperation between the two countries; as well as collaboration at the regional and hemispheric levels with a view to tackling critical issues affecting the region.

In the message issued last night, the President also pointed to the upcoming Summit of the Americas in Trinidad and Tobago in April, noting that it is an important forum at which the leaders of the hemisphere could seek workable solutions to pertinent issues such as security, narco-trafficking, energy, security and climate change.  He added that these issues have a profound effect on both countries.

The President wished the new US leader a successful term in office and continued good health, on behalf of himself, the government and the people of Guyana.
