Be good neighbours in holiday clean-up – City Council

In a press release the Council said persons have also started to rehabilitate their homes and as such it is hopeful that they dispose of all refuse in the appropriate manner. “In the past we have received complaints about citizens throwing their rubbish into their neighbours’ yards and onto parapets,” it said. The Council urges persons to desist from such behaviour. Citizens can report such incidents to the Council on telephone numbers 225-2218, 226-9976, 223-5126 or 233-5128.

The Council said persons who have refuse such as building waste including pieces of wood and zinc, old refrigerators and washers must call the Solid Waste Management Department to make arrangements for disposal. The Department can be reached on telephone number 223-5126.

To ensure compliance the constabulary has increased the number of ranks operating in different areas. The Public Health Department has also intensified inspections in all wards of the city. The Council said it will soon host “a special activity” to address littering in central Georgetown in the main commercial areas.
