Magistrate Sohan suspended

Magistrate Chandra Sohan was today suspended for one month by the Judicial Service Commission.

The magistrate, who sits in both the Georgetown and Berbice districts, would only confirm that he received a letter today informing him of the suspension. He told Stabroek News that he is now “exploring his legal options” and will brief the media on Thursday.

It is not yet known why the magistrate was suspended.
