New Chairman of the Medical Council of Guyana, Dr Sheik Amir says that a full probe will have to be conducted into sex felon Dr Vishwamintra Persaud as the council was unaware of his US conviction.
Speaking to reporters this morning, Dr Amir said that the US authorities will also be contacted for more information on Dr Persaud’s case.
Dr Amir said that Dr Persaud had not submitted a certificate of good standing which is required for medical council registration but gave certain explanations which were accepted. He was then given institutional registration which was only for the Georgetown Public Hospital.
