EU grants $100M to five organizations

The Delegation of the European Union to Guyana has awarded  a total of $100 million to five organizations through grant contracts which are being financed under the European Instrument for Democracy and Human Rights (EIDHR).

In Guyana the main objectives of the EIDHR are to support and strengthen the role of civil society in promoting human rights and democratic reform, in supporting the peaceful conciliation of group interests and in consolidating the participation of non-state actors in Guyana’s own political processes, a release stated.

It said further that the five grants totalling  approximately $100 million  have been  awarded to  Child Link; Equal Rights Trust (UK nationality); Help & Shelter; Partnership and Networking for the Development of Guyana; and the University of Guyana.

This brings to seven the total of EIDHR grant contracts with activities in Guyana.
