Found guilty of drug trafficking, man drinks formalin

The prisoner who drank a quantity of suspected formalin was today awaiting treatment under guard in the Accident and Emergency Unit of the Georgetown Public Hospital.

Earl Melville according to a police release is a remand prisoner who drank the substance after being found guilty of trafficking in narcotics.

At the hospital Melville was in a corner handcuffed to a stretcher. The man was seemed dazed and was twitching awaiting treatment as two police officers stood guard at the entrance of the A&E.

A police release said that the incident occurred at the Georgetown Magistrate’s Court at about 3.25 pm.
