Fire damages Camp and New Market sts building

The three-storey  Forester’s lodge building on the western side of Camp and New Market streets was damaged by fire tonight.

Fire broke out around 9.30 pm. The top storey is of wood and the bottom two of concrete. Two fire tenders were at the scene and the area was cordoned off.  The building has been there for more than two decades and was recently expanded. The building also houses an adult and continuing education section.

Around 10.05 pm firemen brought the blaze under control. The back of the building and the middle floor were said to have been damaged.
