Newborn baby thrown from Victoria Jubilee Hospital window

(Jamaica Gleaner) – Tragedy struck at the Victoria Jubilee Hospital in Jamaica this morning, when a woman threw a newborn baby off the multi-storey building.
The child’s body was reportedly partly eaten by stray dogs before it was retrieved.
The infant’s tragic end came in the dark before dawn broke.
It was clearly a horrific sight for the workers who witnessed the body of the infant whose short life was snuffed out so tragically.
Several Lamasa workers, contracted to provide janitorial services at both the Victoria Jubilee Hospital and the neighbouring Kingston Public Hospital related how the limbs of the baby were chewed by animals, prowling in the dead of the morning.
When the Gleaner/Power106 news team arrived at the facility, workers from Madden’s Funeral Home were in the process of removing the tiny body.
In the Labour and Delivery suite of the institution, buzzing conversation among patients was centred around why a supposed mother would commit such a heinous act.
The Gleaner understands that the alleged offender is on the run as she fled before staff members realised what had happened.
Administrators of the hospital said they could not provide a comment as they were investigating whether the woman was a patient at the institution.
Either way this raises questions about the effectiveness of the security at the Victoria Jubilee and Kingston Public Hospitals.
