Police destroy ganja farm at Warida

On Friday, the police conducted a drug eradication operation at Warida, Upper Demerara River.

A police release today said that during the operation three fields of cannabis sativa (marijuana) plants, about seven acres in size, with approximately 15,000 plants ranging between 3 feet and 7 feet in height were found. Also discovered were five nurseries containing about 5,000 seedlings and a quantity of seeds.

The plants and seedlings were destroyed while a man was arrested and is in police custody.
