Bridge needed across canal for access to Pln Ross cemetery

Dear Editor,

The Tempe-Seafield NDC has given the MMA/ ADA two dams and canals to maintain.

One is Plantation Ross and the other is Yeoville WC Berbice  from the Public Road to the sea defence main drainage. The two other parts of the canals and dams are maintained by the NDC, which claimed that claimed that MMA/ADA receives money for their maintenance. These canals are blocked with heavy weed.

The Plantation Ross dam was badly damaged by a contractor who dug out over a hundred truckloads of sand from the reef to build the centre at Onverwagt.

When I lodged a complaint with the councilors, they said they were not responsible.

Pln Ross is a village 150 rods in width; it has a cemetery about 30 rods by 150 rods.

During the rainy season people have to carry their dead through the mud and water in the swamp because the canal can’t drain the water.

Over twenty years ago the Tempe-Seafield NDC promised to build a bridge across the canal to the cemetery; this was never done since this dam and trench were handed over to the MMA/ADA.
Who will build this bridge across the canal? The proprietors said they are paying the NDC rates and taxes and not the MMA/ADA.

Yours faithfully,
Rudolph Singh
