Pro-Am card steadily gaining momentum

Peter Abdool, president of the Guyana Boxing Board of Control (GBBC), yesterday declared that the monthly Pro-Am boxing card was steadily gaining momentum after commenceing in February.

Abdool made the disclosure during a press conference yesterday at the National Communications Network (NCN) Studio where he pointed out that fighters are getting an opportunity to improve their records and the public was getting an opportunity to see quality fights.

According to Abdool the monthly programme, which is held in collaboration with the Guyana Amateur Boxing Association (GABA), the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sport and NCN, helps also with realizing emerging talents.

This Friday, rising middleweight fighter Kwesi “Lightning Hitman” Jones will be going against Howard “Battersea Bomber” Eastman in their four-round professional encounter.

Jones said that he is in prime condition for the fight and all patrons can enjoy a good fight.
The main supporting bout will see Pauline London and Debbie Tyson clashing in the heavyweight division while Gavin Williams and Simeion Hardy will trade blows in their debut professional bout.

In the amateur fights, junior flyweights Daneshwar Narine and Dexter Ray will square off, Laurex Stewart and Ron Smith will collide in a welterweight bout, Ean Bancroft and Alfred Benjamin will trade punches at middleweight, while Markamber Pierre and Trelon Munroe will battle at heavyweight.
The action is set to commence at 20:00hrs.
