The police are investigating an armed robbery that occurred at about 1.30 am today on Shawhadeo Wengagloun, 20 years of Canefield, Canje, who was attacked and robbed by three masked men armed with handguns.
Police say that investigations revealed that Wengagloun was asleep when he was aroused by the men who had entered the home after smashing a louvre window. “The men held him up and took away a cell phone and a wristwatch after which they escaped, discharging several rounds in the air as they did so”, a release said.
The police say that is further suspected that the same three men then proceeded to the home of Fazeela Hussein, 27 years of East Canefield, Canje and robbed her and her husband Wazim Yashwardeo of jewellery valued at $45,000 after they had also smashed a glass window and entered the home.
Police further say it is believed that the men had earlier, at about 12.30 am today, smashed a window and entered the home of Suresh Sooknan where they beat him, ransacked the house and went away without taking anything.
