(de Ware Tijd) — Suriname is playing an active role in the erecting of a monument at the United Nations (UN) to commemorate slavery and the transatlantic slave trade. The website to gather among other funds for building this monument was officially launched this week. Within CARICOM, Suriname and Barbados have, up till now, donated the highest amount (US$ 10,000) for building this monument.
