(Trinidad Newsday) Jamaican Marlo Rodman and Warren McKay of Guyana are joint leaders of the current Trinidad and Tobago Cycling Federation’s (TTCF) Five-Race Keep Fit Cycling series.
Both have accumulated ten points each following victories in the first and second races.
Trinidad and Tobago’s Adam Abraham is in third position after finishing third and second respectively, to date.
In a gruelling 33-miles grind from Golconda to the Chase Village Flyover and back, Rodman, a member of Heatwave, was first to finish in an impressive time of one hour, 17 minutes and 52 seconds, and has already turned his focus on the 30-lap circuit race at King George V Park, St Clair.
McKay and Rodman received an additional three points for their bettering the expected time set by the federation.
Alexander secured the runner-up position after he first snapped up third and four points in the opening race, as well as five points for his second place finish on Sunday in the Open Category.
Alexander’s brother Joshua (Heatwave) crossed the line for a credible third while King Ettienne of Bike Smith was fourth.
Madonna Wheelers’ Varun Maharajh and Tariq Smart completed the top six positions in fifth and sixth places respectively .
Among the Juniors Kwesi Browne completed a double-by claiming the Foreshore to Couva and back ride, and Sunday’s race. Justin Roberts who has for the past year or so dominated the junior category, settled for the runner-up position on Sunday for the Parkside while Sonic’s Dimitri Harvey was third. Akieel Glasgow won top spot among the Juveniles and Cheyenne Awai and Rebecca Cross secured gold in the junior and senior women respectively.
