UNASUR should probe Venezuelan interference in Suriname – group

(De Ware Tijd) THE HAGUE/PARAMARIBO – UNASUR, the Union of South-American States should start an independent investigation into interference by Venezuela’s government and its President Hugo Chávez Frías in Suriname’s internal affairs. The Suriname Committee ‘No Murderer for President’ (GMAP) has made this demand in a letter to the Embassies of UNASUR member states as a result of the leaked diplomatic cables on WikiLeaks. GMAP has also sent a copy of the letter to the Secretaries-General of the CARICOM and the United Nations.
