Guyana seen as hot spot for energy investment

(BBC) Experts are saying that the political turmoil in North Africa may lead investors in energy exploration and production to shift their focus elsewhere.

One of the areas in their sights for more conventional oil exploration may be Guyana and Suriname.

Anish Kapadia of the investment bank Tudor, Pickering and Holt says the two Caricom member nations – as well as parts of West Africa – will likely be the hot-spots to watch.

The Canadian company, CGX Energy, has announced that it will start drilling for oil and natural gas along Guyana’s east coast this year after resolving a long dispute over the offshore border with Suriname.
