Fifteen injured in crash at Happy Acres

At least 15 persons were injured today following a late morning two vehicle smash up at Happy Acres, East Coast Demerara.

Reports are that around 11:30 hrs, a Route 44 minibus was heading to the city when a maroon car, according to one of the injured, slammed into it. The bus which was transporting a full load including two small children, toppled several times before coming to rest on the busy East Coast corridor.

The passengers of the bus miraculously escaped serious injuries and are being treated at the Georgetown Hospital.

Among those injured are Vanessa Phillips, the headmistress of the Company Path Nursery School in Buxton; her overseas-based aunt Florence Butler, Mark Wade and Bridgette King.
