Light plane crashes at Paruima, no fatalities

A light aircraft operated by a Seventh-day Adventist Mission in Guyana crashed at the Paruima airstrip in Region 7 this afternoon.

Director General of the Guyana Civil Aviation Department (GCAA), Zulficar Mohammed confirmed the incident when contacted by this newspaper. He said that there were no fatalities.

While details are sketchy, Stabroek News understands that the aircraft, a Maule single-engine craft bearing registration N1051W, crashed during departure at the border area this afternoon, sometime after 1 pm.

A team of inspectors from the GCAA was preparing to visit the area to investigate the incident.
